St George’s Medical School (University of London) and the SSA produced a user-friendly set of factsheets to help integrate knowledge of substance use into the undergraduate medical curriculum. This factsheet examines substance use and infectious diseases. After reading the factsheet, medical students will:
- understand screening and assessment to identify signs and symptoms of infectious diseases
- understand the rationale for regular screening for infectious diseases
- be able to describe an appropriate care plan encompassing prevention and treatment for both substance use and infections
