Did you know that you can claim up to £200 towards your expenses for this year’s PhD Symposium and Annual Conference in Newcastle upon Tyne?

The dual-attendance bursary was created to enable more PhD students to attend the SSA’s PhD Symposium and Annual Conference.

There is no need to ‘apply’ in advance. Any PhD students who attend both events in a single year can claim up to £200 towards:

  • travel to/from the events
  • accommodation
  • food (if not attending evening meals linked to either event)

Before arranging travel, accommodation, and food, please read the expenses policy. This provides guidance on what you can and cannot claim for. For example, all rail tickets must be ‘standard class’, and the SSA cannot reimburse for alcohol or minibar expenses.

To claim your dual-attendance bursary, complete an expenses claim form within one month of attending both events, and send this along with any relevant invoices/receipts to the SSA’s Chief Executive Officer, Rob Calder.

If you have any questions about the dual-attendance bursary, please contact Rob Calder.
