The SSA is now accepting applications for oral presentations, poster presentations, and workshops at the next Annual Conference. Find out how to be part of an exciting event that celebrates excellence in addiction science.

The SSA’s Annual Conference brings together addiction researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and experts by experience who are enthusiastic about presenting and discussing advancements in addiction science.

The 2024 Annual Conference attracted 240 people from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, UK, USA, and Zimbabwe. Attendees said they enjoyed the variety of sessions at the conference, and rated the presentations highly for scientific rigour and the quality of science communication.

The SSA has recently opened up early-bird ticket sales for the 2025 Annual Conference, and will start to develop the conference programme over the coming months. One prestigious spot has already been filled, with Professor Trevor Williams Robbins agreeing to deliver the 2025 Society Lecture on ‘The neural and psychological basis of compulsive drug-seeking’.

If you would like to share your research or shape discussions about addiction science, please consider submitting an application for an oral presentation, poster presentation, or workshop at the 2025 Annual Conference. Poster presenters will be considered for an award for ‘best visual’, ‘most innovative’, or ‘best overall’ in either the student or non-student category, and speakers will have the opportunity to be featured in a conference proceedings supplement of Addiction journal.

Apply to present or deliver a workshop and visit the conference home page for up-to-date information about the SSA’s Annual Conference.
